Orchard Interiors - A case study.
Orchard Interiors required a large online catalogue site to display their wide range of home furnishings.
The system had to be useable across all common web platforms ensuring that the widest possible array of visitors enjoy the same experience when visiting the site.
The new site needed a fresh professional
look to appeal to the growing online interior decor industry.
Products were to be organised into distinct categories, making the user experience quick and uncomplicated.
The site had to be easy to navigate
and engaging to browse, whilst maintaining full standards compliance with regards to accessibility, usability and future web trends.
A thumbnail image based search was agreed to be the best way to display the wide range of product categories.
Each product had to be
easy to find and provide detailed information including a high quality product image. This is naturally the main point of attention and is
critical in catching the users imagination and ultimately leading to a sales enquiry.
The main points of navigation had to be clearly viewable on every page so as to encourage enquiries and therefore sales leads.
Technologies employed
- ASP (VBScript) - for server side data management.
- XHTML - for site structure.
- JavaScript - for client side interaction and speed.
